With an increasing number of vans getting broken into by thieves, additional van security is at the forefront of everyone's mind.
Thieves are exploiting weaknesses in the vehicle manufacturers original design. One of these weak points on the Transporter T5/T6 is the gap between the door handle and the body of the van. Thieves are using a screwdriver to force this gap and then lever the back of the lock to mimic the action of the key.
To reduce the risk of thieves using this method an external plate is recommended. The stainless-steel plate will sit behind the manufactures lock providing additional protection to the vulnerable area.
The handle shield has multiple uses. First and foremost, it will act as a visual deterrent against any potential break-ins and instantly increase security on your vehicle. The external shield can also be utilised to repair any holes/damage in the van from previous attempts to break in via this method.
Van Guard’s handle shield is manufactured on their site in Devon. Produced from 1.5mm stainless steel, the outer shield is powder-coated black to offer a sleek finish. Detailed fitting instructions and a fixing kit are included. This product is vehicle specific to ensure maximum protection.
