Tool theft has become an epidemic in the UK! It has increased by two thirds since 2015 and over the last 10 years has accounted for 1 in 7 crimes. Tradepeople have had enough, so much so that they have taken it into their own hands to get the Government to do more to protect people’s livelihoods.

P B Plumber (@PBPlumber) has launched a campaign to tackle just that. Using the hashtag #noVanber he is asking people to sign a petition to get the Government to consider what can be done to tackle this growing problem. Whether this is introducing new legislation, additional sentencing guidelines or regulations on the reselling of tools. Something needs to be done!

Tradespeople are having no choice but to take action against these thieves and protect their vehicle. We have complied a few top tips for van security from, adding additional locks to your vehicle, window grilles/blanks, investing in a tool store and some external storage solutions such as lockable ladder clamps and pipe carriers.

Here at Van Guard we are supporting P B Builder in his campaign to tackle Tool Theft that is costing the industry nearly £100m a year! What can you do to help? First step sign the petition. Second step spread awareness and encourage other people to sign it too. Here’s hoping that we can get the Government to act.
