The ‘peel and steal’ attack method is one of the most common for thieves to gain quick access to the vehicle. Pressure is applied to the Vauxhall Vivaro door and using bodyweight the door pulls open.  

Exposing Locking Systems

Locking systems in the Vauxhall Vivaro are being exposed by thieves cutting holes into the side of the vehicle to gain access to the locking cables/rod. By cutting these the door is unlocked, and the contents of the van are exposed.  

Cutting the Loom

Another access point for thieves is the cutting of the loom. Once this has been cut on a Vauxhall Vivaro the van will think it has been in a crash and activate the failsafe, popping all the doors open. 

Opportunist Thieves

This attack method is a lot less destructive but still has the same impact on livelihood. Leaving the vehicle unlocked for even a couple of seconds can give thieves the chance to access the van.

When the ULTILock Hooklock isn’t practical, we recommend utilising a Deadlock. Deadlocks are a common and popular additional security upgrade and work in the same way as hooklocks, but instead of throwing a hook into a receiving bracket, they throw a straight bolt. Deadlocks are designed to be placed in the best possible location to help prevent an attack.
