Tool theft is on the rise throughout the UK and tradespeople are looking for ways to deter thieves from targeting their van. A great preventative measure is to install additional security to your vehicle. Van locks aren’t the only way that you can protect your vehicle and livelihood; shielding is a great addition to add to your van, acting as a visual deterrent to possible thieves.

Van shielding comes in different forms, from internal and external shields to loom guards and anti-peel brackets, Van Guard’s van security solutions are vehicle specific and have been designed with the vehicle weaknesses in mind.

External Shielding

External shielding not only protects weaknesses on the vehicle body from being the target of thieves, but it also acts as a visual deterrent. Manufactured from 304 grade stainless steel it acts as a second tougher skin for potential thieves to get through. Installation of this product is fairly simple, no prior knowledge is required and full fitting instructions are provided.

Internal Shielding

Internal shielding is another great way to protect your vehicle from possible attacks. Much like the external shields it will protect the weaker points of your vehicle without the shield being visible from the exterior of the van. They can be used in conjunction with external shields/handle shields as well!

Handle Shields

Handle shields are similar to our external shields but are designed to incorporate the vehicles handle, hence the name! Not only are they a great deterrent they can be used if a break-in has already occurred to cover the affected area, saving you the cost of replacing the entire door.

Anti-Peel Brackets

Anti-peel brackets are specifically designed to combat the ‘peel and steal’ method that is prevalent amongst thieves. The bracket is fitted to the vulnerable area of the van, and if a break-in attempt is made, they will be unsuccessful.

Loom Guards

Van Wiring Loom Guards are a great way of protecting easily accessible wiring looms from being cut by want in thieves. Cutting of the wiring loom can potentially unlock the van allowing access. This has been a particular issue with the Ford Transit, Ford Transit Custom and Ford Transit Connect models where the wiring looms are extremely vulnerable.

Attack Method

Van Guard Solution

Peel & Steel - pressure is applied to the door and using bodyweight thieves are able to peel the door back

Anti-peel brackets - the additional bracket prevents the door being pulled away from the frame

Exposing locking system - cutting holes into the side of the vehicle to expose the locking system and then cutting the wires to deactivate the locking system

Shielding - protects vulnerable areas where the locking mechanism maybe exposed if the vehicle is drilled.

Twist & Pop - rotation of the plastic lock cover , which then pops off to reveal the locking system

Ford Replacement lock - replaces the driver cab door locks plastic cover with a metal anti-rotation cover.
