At Van Guard, it’s not always about ULTI Bars and commercial vehicle accessories you know! We do have other passions as well, and one of those interests is very close to our hearts and as it turns out, our office.

Based 7 miles away within the world famous Royal Marine Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, is The C Group. This is a quite remarkable Royal Marine Commandos registered charity that we are very keen to support for a number of reasons.

The C Group is a charity whose aim is to inspire businesses to support Royal Marines whose military career has either ended prematurely due to injury, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress or to assist serving and former Royal Marines to resettle into civilian life.

Barry our MD takes up the story: “The C Group is a charity that is close to my heart for a number of reasons. They are quite a unique charity in that they are not a tin rattling operation constantly asking for money. They need much more than that. They need to connect with larger businesses and persuade them of the merits in potentially offering stimulating, challenging and motivational opportunities to trustworthy, committed, hard-working people with the capacity to lead, manage and deliver. As we all know these are skills that are implicit within Royal Marines. It is difficult for a company the size and type that Van Guard is to help in this aspect of their aims and objectives so it is great that we can at least assist in other ways and still go some way to supporting our dedicated Royal Marines in need.”

This is why The C Group is our nominated charity for 2015 and why we were delighted to recently present them with a £1,000 cheque to help fund their Royal Marines in need programme.

We look forward to working further with The C Group as the year progresses. If you would like to know more about The C Group and how you can get involved please visit: www.thecgroup.org.
